Automatically Change iPhone Lock Screen in iOS 16 Based on Time or Location

What about having a motivational wallpaper when you are meditating in the morning and a work-centric wallpaper when you reach home? Besides, it would also be great to bring a beautifully designed dark wallpaper when you hit the bed. The whole purpose of this customization feature is to always make the lock screen appear refreshing and in sync with what you are up to, by keeping the boredom at a fair distance. So, how does this smart automation work? Well, it first requires you to create a custom Focus profile and then link it with a specific Lock Screen wallpaper. When you have linked the wallpaper with your custom Focus profile, you can customize it to become active at your chosen time or location.

  1. To get going, launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Now, tap on Focus.
  3. Next, tap on the “+” button at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. On the next screen, tap on Custom.
  5. Next up, give a suitable name to your Focus profile and also choose the desired icon for it. Then, tap on Next at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Now, tap on Customize Focus and then set notification silence options for people and apps when your Focus mode is enabled.
  7. Under the “Customize Screens” section, select the Lock Screen option.
  8. You can now either create a New Lock Screen from the gallery or select from existing Lock Screens.
  9. Once you have linked a preferred Lock Screen, tap on Add Automation under Turn on Automatically.
  10. On the New Automation screen, select Time or Location as per your needs.  Note:

It’s worth pointing out that there is also a way to automatically change the Lock Screen when you open an app. You can take advantage of this feature to make your wallpaper appear in line with the app you are using. Just ap on App and then select an app.

If you choose to switch Lock Screen based on time, adjust the time and day when you want your Focus to become active. And if you choose a location, you will need to search for a preferred location. In the end, be sure to tap on Done at the upper-right corner of the screen to finish. Now that you have successfully scheduled your new Focus mode, your linked Lock Screen will also get activated at the same time depending on your configuration.

Change Your Lock Screen at Desired Time and Location

That’s pretty much done! So, that’s how you can automate your iPhone Lock Screen to change at the desired location or time. As stated above, you can make the most of this very automation feature to switch to a different wallpaper whenever you open any app. If you are fond of customization, you may also want to find out how to photo shuffle on the Lock Screen daily, hourly, on tap or whenever you wake your iPhone. Enough talk, let us know your thoughts about iOS 16 and whether or not the fully customizable Lock Screen has appealed to your taste.
