Note: If you want to revert to the original language, tap the translate icon and select View Original. As per Apple, after the initial setup, Safari will auto-display a translate icon in the address field when you encounter a compatible web page.

Which languages can Safari translate?

Currently, Safari’s translation skills are a bit limited and can translate only into English, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Read on to know how you can include multiple language options for Safari webpage translation.

How to translate Safari webpage in other languages

By default, Safari will only translate into your device’s default language. However, you can also add other supported languages other than your device’s default one. Just follow these steps to learn how: Once done, go to Safari and try translating any webpage. You will notice that Safari will give you an option to translate to any of the added languages.

How to translate webpages in Safari in iOS 13

Safari translation was introduced with iOS 14. If your iPhone is running iOS 13, you will have to use a third-party language translator app to translate Safari webpages. I have used Microsoft Translator to illustrate the below method. If you do not see the ‘Translator’ option in the Share Sheet, tap Edit Actions, scroll down and tap the green plus icon for Translator. Also, toggle it on. Finally, tap Done at the top right. Now, you will see the option to translate in the Share Sheet.

Translate a webpage into a different language in iOS 13

By default, Microsoft Translator translates the page to English. But what if you are a native French reader who stumbles across a Hindi website? Well, you can change the language of translation inside the app. To go back and see the webpage in its original untranslated language, tap the page refresh icon from the top right. The website will reload in its native language. There you go! This is how you can translate Safari webpages on iPhone to your preferred language.
